A visible watermark does not prevent a document from being reused. It can be cropped, retouched, and today's AI tools remove it quickly and well. We would rather tell you here than let you find out at the worst possible moment.

What it does do:

• It states an intent. "Copy given to this organisation, on this date, for this purpose": the document now has a declared use, and any other use is visibly a diversion.
• It discourages opportunism. Most misuse does not come from determined forgers, but from people who found a convenient file.
• It leaves a trace. Removing a watermark is a deliberate act, hard to pass off as an accident in a dispute.

Burglaries happen, and we still lock our doors. A lock does not make theft impossible: it makes it harder, slower, and unambiguous.

The strong guarantee is elsewhere. The AES-256 encryption of your vault is not a deterrent, it is an impossibility: without your device, your documents are unreadable — including to us.
